Honors/Accomplishments

  • Michigan SuperLawyers, 2013 to present
  • Mr. Hogg has authored countless briefs in state and federal trial courts across Michigan, addressing dispositive issues as well as state and federal procedural matters.  This work at the trial court level complements his appellate practice before the Michigan Court of Appeals, the Michigan Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
  • Due to his reputation as a strong legal researcher, writer, and advocate, Mr. Hogg has been retained by other attorneys to handle various aspects of their cases, including dispositive motions, depositions, and appeals. A few examples of the litigation Mr. Hogg has been involved with include:
    • $2 million jury verdict in Macomb County Circuit Court in an automobile negligence claim involving a traumatic brain injury.
    • $750,000 settlement in Macomb County Circuit Court in a construction accident claim involving serious injuries to both knees and requiring bilateral knee replacement surgery.
    • $500,000 settlement in Oakland County Circuit Court in an automobile negligence claim involving a traumatic brain injury.
    • $350,000 settlement in Wayne County Circuit Court in a general negligence claim involving an eye injury and permanent blindness in one eye.
    • Successful resolution of a zoning dispute involving the Natural Rivers Zoning Act. Respondent owned a motel on a renowned Michigan trout stream located in Lake County. He also operated a fly-fishing guide service. Respondent received a "cease and desist" letter from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) alleging that the fly-fishing guide service was a nonconforming use of the motel property. After significant negotiations with the DNR, a consent decree was entered, allowing respondent to continue his services as a fly-fishing guide with no significant changes to his operations, and no fines or penalties.
